A TSHP member has received a national recognition.

On Nov. 12, the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) announced the latest recipients of the Certified Pharmacy Executive Leader (CPELSM) credential. Jamie McCarrell, PharmD, MBA, BCPS, BCGP, CPEL, FASCP, represents the Lone Star State in the new CPEL roster.

"The CPEL recognizes commitment to achieving and maintaining excellence in professionalism, leading people, leading the pharmacy enterprise, and leading within and across complex healthcare systems," said ASHP in a press release.

Launched in 2021 and the first of its kind in pharmacy leadership, the CPEL acknowledges the unique expertise of pharmacy executive leaders such as McCarrell, Director of Pharmacy at BSA Health System in Amarillo. To be recognized, pharmacists must have a minimum of five years of progressive and sustained leadership experience in a healthcare organization resulting in advancing pharmacy practice and positive patient outcomes. Candidates must also demonstrate achievement of validated leadership competencies and complete a 4-day capstone at ASHP headquarters.
