TSHP CPE Mission Statement

The Texas Society of Health-System Pharmacists is committed to educational innovation and life-long learning as a professional responsibility of all pharmacists and technicians. We will facilitate and enhance the professional growth and development of our members to improve patient care.

GOALS:

  • To identify educational needs of members and prepare unique, timely educational programs to meet the educational and professional needs of both pharmacists and technicians.
  • To provide Knowledge- and Application-Based educational programs to assist pharmacists and pharmacy technicians who practice in health-systems meet their patient care responsibilities and expand their professional roles.
  • To feature best practices, and real world educational programs that can be applied to daily practice.
  • To support the practice and profession of pharmacy through advocacy education, regulation and law updates and in-depth analysis of legislative initiatives.
In all educational programs, TSHP strongly urges the use of active, adult learning techniques through such mechanisms as case studies, audience participation and small group discussion.

Accreditation Fees for Knowledge- and Application-based Activities

NEW FEES IN EFFECT

TSHP Local Chapters – Programs requested by Component Chapters of TSHP. ACPE services shall be provided as a chapter service. There will be no administrative charge assessed for the program set-up fee. A $5 processing fee per non-member participant will be issued to the host local chapter.

Organizations (Per-Session) - Programs requested by eligible companies* organizations (including Colleges of Pharmacy, other professional associations, and health-systems) on a per-session fee basis. The first session requested is a fee of $500. Each additional session requested will be billed at $250 per-session.


Annual Agreement – Organizational Partners may enter into an annual contract agreement with TSHP. Organized health-systems, hospitals, other professional associations, and other non-profit entities may apply for a Joint Providership with TSHP to provide complete accreditation services for the entity on an annual basis. Services include all programs offered by the entity that are applicable for continuing pharmacy education accreditation, excluding certificate program activities. The annual fees for such services are as follows:

  • $5,000 for unlimited live sesson accreditation, OR
  • $10,000 for unlimited live & home-study (including on-demand hosting**) session accreditation

 

* - Definition of the term “eligible/ineligible company” and TSHP’s Policy on Integrity and Independence.
** - Hosting is dependent upon use of TSHP’s preferred Learning Management Service (LMS). TSHP reserves the right to determine the vendor used for such service and may change that vendor at any time without notice. TSHP will make reasonable accommodations to ensure uninterrupted access for learners.
All fees must be paid by the requesting group. TSHP will not bill program participants for services. TSHP will invoice for services rendered within 60 days post event. Payment should be provided no later than 30 days after invoice issuance. Failure to pay within the given timeline will result in a $100 late payment fee per every 30 days delinquent.

 

Application Process

SUBMISSION PROCEDURE:

  1. Please read the Joint Providership Manual FIRST. Use the "Step 1" button below to download your copy.
  2. Once the manual is read; the organization requesting education credit should complete one Joint Providership Form (Step 2) to notify TSHP of your intent to submit education for accreditation. This form requests information about your event as a whole (whether a 1-hour session or multi-day conference).
  3. EACH speaker should complete a Faculty Agreement Form (Step 3). The Faculty Agreement Form is the document TSHP will use to accredit your session. This form requests details about the individual session being presented and the speaker presenting it. Please note, the organizational contact as provided during this form's completion will receive a copy of this form submission via email.


STEP 1: Joint Providership Manual - Read this FIRST
Details the responsibilities of TSHP & the Joint Provider Organization as well as providing guidance on development and submission of your CPE Activity.


STEP 2: Joint Providership Form - Organization
The Joint Provider Agreement must be completed by the host organization and submitted to TSHP no later than 60 days in advance of the activity.

Financial Disclosures: TSHP is required by ACPE to obtain and resolve potential conflicts for all individuals that may be in a position to influence the planning, faculty selection, delivery, or evaluation of accredited education (planner, staff, speakers, etc). Each individual must complete the disclosure form relevant to the past 24 months. The Joint Provider Organization requesting the education accreditation must submit all disclosures through this form. Individuals whose relevant conflicts are unable to be resolved may not participate in educational activities. Organizations that are unable to obtain disclosures from all relevant individuals will be denied accreditation services. Download the Disclosure Form.

Organizations must provide an agenda with this form to allow for the initial assignment of Universal Activity Numbers so you may market your event as required by ACPE.

You are NOT permitted to market a TSHP ACPE-provider accredited activity without submission to TSHP to verify adherence to the ACPE Marketing Requirements. Contact education@tshp.org with questions.

A Provider must not list any language alluding to or indicating that the Provider has applied for ACPE credit. The provider may use the following language, “This activity is eligible for ACPE credit; see final CPE activity announcement for specific details.”

Please note: If the faculty member for the activity is a fellow or resident, this document should be completed by their preceptor.


STEP 3: Faculty Agreement Form - Speaker
EACH faculty member providing CPE education must complete the Faculty Agreement no less than 45-days in advance of the activity.

NEW REQUIREMENT-PHARMACY COMPETENCIES:
Use the "Cape Outcomes" documentation to identify the learning domains included in your presentation. In addition, please consider these educational outcomes when determining your learning objectives. You will be asked to indicate which domains your programming meets when submitting the Faculty Agreement Form.

  1. Who should apply for CPE Joint Provider status?
    Previously approved CPE Joint Provider Organizations, TSHP Local Chapters, Hospitals, Educational Foundations, etc.

  2. Who should NOT apply for CPE Joint Provider status?
    Individual commercial entities, pharmacists, technicians, or other individuals seeking CPE credit. This form is for accreditation of a CPE Session event, not claiming of credit for a program already presented.

  3. How do we provide payment?
    Depending on your Joint Provider Category you will either provide payment in one yearly amount or be invoiced per CPE activity accredited based on your category level as determined by the CPE Joint Provider Agreement. TSHP accepts Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Checks (electronic deposit not available).
