Texas pharmacy students can be leaders, and the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) just proved it.

On Nov. 1, the ASHP Pharmacy Student Forum and the ASHP Foundation announced the 2024-2025 ASHP Student Leadership Award. Esther Albuquerque, a student at The University of Texas at Austin College of Pharmacy, is among the Class of 2025.

The ASHP Student Leadership Award recognizes and celebrates the contributions of students who demonstrate the very best attributes and accomplishments of ASHP student members. Up to 12 awards are offered annually. Student pharmacists in the second through fourth professional years are eligible to apply. The award consists of a plaque and a $2,000 cash award provided by the ASHP Foundation.

The application is currently available on the ASHP website at https://www.ashp.org/about-ashp/awards/student-awards/ashp-student-leadership-award, and the application deadline is January 31, 2025. Award recipients will be notified by April 2025.

ASHP will recognize 2024 Student Leadership Award winners at the 2024 Midyear Clinical Meeting & Exhibition held December 8-12, 2024, in New Orleans, LA. Recipients will be recognized during the Pharmacy Student Forum Opening Session on Sunday, December 8, 11:15 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. CT
