The Texas Society of Health-System Pharmacists Research & Education Foundation is proud to announce the recipient of the Austin Area Society of Health-System Pharmacists Scholarship is Seun Lagbenro.
Seun is a rising third-year pharmacy student at The University of Texas at Austin College of Pharmacy, originally from Houston, Texas. Growing up in an underserved community, he developed a deep passion for improving healthcare access and advocating for
patient-centered care. His interests lie in clinical pharmacy, health system pharmacy administration and leadership, and academia.
Seun serves as President-Elect for the College of Pharmacy and is actively involved in multiple leadership
roles, including the Curriculum Committee, Student Assessment Council, and ASHP’s Pharmacy Student Forum. He also serves as the Pharmacy Ambassador Recruitment Chair and APhA-ASP Membership Vice President, among other leadership positions. As a Pharmacist
Intern at CommUnityCare North Central, he works closely with patients in an ambulatory care setting, particularly in diabetes management. His experiences in advocacy, mentorship, and clinical practice drive his commitment to pharmacy education and
advancing patient care.
After graduation, Seun plans to pursue a residency to become a board-certified clinical pharmacist. In his free time, he enjoys drumming, running, traveling, and exploring new restaurants in Austin.
The Austin Area Society of Health-System Pharmacists Scholarship was established in 1998. The scholarship is awarded to students currently enrolled at The University of Texas College of Pharmacy in either a professional or post-graduate degree program. The scholarship will be awarded on “need” basis, not scholastic achievement. Members of the University of Texas Student chapter of TSHP shall be given priority over all other students. In the event that there are no AASHP members who apply for a scholarship in this category at The University of Texas, the scholarship shall be awarded to a member of AACP who is enrolled in a post-entry degree program at another School/College of Pharmacy.
