The Texas Society of Health-System Pharmacy (TSHP) is proud to announce that Phuoc Anne Nguyen is the recipient of the 2025 Adela Schneider Pharmacy Leadership Award. This award is presented to a pharmacist that demonstrates leadership and vision in advancing the practice and profession and improving patient care. This award was renamed in 2025 to honor Adela Schneider. Adela Schneider was a founding member of TSHP, the first recipient of the District Service Award (1971), and is credited with authorship of the book A History of TSHP. Her leadership and sustained support was instrumental to the early development of TSHP and Texas health-system pharmacy. Phuoc Anne Nguyen, PharmD, MS, BCPS, FTSHP is a highly accomplished pharmacy leader with a strong background in transitions of care, health-system pharmacy administration, and innovative healthcare delivery models. She earned her Bachelor’s in Biology and Doctor of Pharmacy degree from The University of Texas at Austin, followed by a PGY1/PGY2/MS Health-System Pharmacy Administration Residency at the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center. She also holds a Master of Science in Health Outcomes and Policy from the University of Houston College of Pharmacy. She completed a Population Health Training-In-Place Fellowship at the CDC in 2022. She was selected for the Thomas C. Dolan 2023 Career Accelerator program by American College of Healthcare Executives. She recently completed the Pharmacy and Lab Emerging Leadership Program in 2024. She previously worked as a Pharmacy Manager at Houston Methodist West Hospital and as a Transitions of Care Coordinator/Clinical Specialist in Internal Medicine at MD Anderson Cancer Center. As the Transitions & Post-Acute Care Services Pharmacy Manager at Harris Health, she leads efforts to optimize system infusion strategies, enhance medication use during care transitions, and coordinate hospital-at-home and outpatient antibiotic parenteral therapy (OPAT) programs. She is passionate about leveraging innovative healthcare strategies to improve access to infusion therapy and enhance the quality of care. She is highly engaged in the profession, having various leadership roles within TSHP and ASHP, and has been recognized with numerous awards for her service. Dr. Nguyen is dedicated to advancing pharmacy practice through collaboration, leadership, and evidence-based innovations that drive sustainable healthcare improvements and patient-centered outcomes. During her free time, she enjoys spending time with her 2 toddlers, hiking, traveling, and blogging on business and career pathways. TSHP annually recognizes outstanding individuals and organizations within our community for excellence and a commitment to advancing healthcare and pharmacy practice in Texas. The awardees are selected by the TSHP Board of Directors based on nominations submitted by TSHP members. This honor was presented April 4 at the 2025 TSHP Annual Seminar in Irving, TX, at the Irving Convention Center at Las Colinas. TSHP’s Annual Seminar is the largest educational and networking meeting of pharmacists, new practitioners, students, technicians, and industry professionals in Texas. With a focus on quality patient care and medication safety, registrants may select from dozens of hours of live programming each year. TSHP Annual Seminar programs are designed to maintain and enhance the knowledge, skills, and abilities of pharmacy professionals in health-systems across Texas.
