The Texas Society of Health-System Pharmacists Research & Education Foundation (TSHP R&E Foundation) is proud to announce the recipient of the 2025 Celso and Matiana M. Cuéllar Sr. Scholarship is Adam Campos.
The Celso and Matiana M. Cuéllar Sr. Scholarship was established in 2002 by TSHP Past President (1999-2000) Lourdes M. Cuéllar in honor and memory of her parents. This scholarship was created to provide qualified students of Hispanic heritage with an
opportunity to complete a pharmacy education. The goal of the Cuéllar Scholarship is to promote academic excellence and to afford an opportunity for a student with financial need to reach their fullest potential. Mr. and Mrs. Cuéllar grew up during
the Great Depression and highly valued education. They saw education as a pathway toward personal fulfillment and contribution to society, and supported their three children in aspiring to rewarding professional careers. This mantra was also passed
along to many other extended family members and children within their community in San Antonio, Texas. Lourdes fondly recalls that she, as well as her siblings were “carded” – i.e. received an I.D. card to the public library as soon as they could
read. Preference will be given to students of Hispanic background; if there are no eligible Hispanic students, the scholarship is open to students of other minority heritage.
A $1,500 scholarship was awarded this year.
Adam Campos is a third-year pharmacy student at The University of Texas at Austin College of Pharmacy. Born and raised in El Paso, Texas, he earned a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences from The University of Texas at El Paso before pursuing a

the Admissions Committee and a Texas Pharmacy Ambassador. Adam is also involved in the American Pharmacists Association, UT-Student Society of Health-Systems Pharmacists, Phi Lambda Sigma, and Rho Chi.
Currently, Adam is a pharmacist intern
at CVS Pharmacy and an Advanced Academic Assistant, assisting first-year pharmacy students as they develop foundational skills for their careers. In his fourth year, he will complete the Longitudinal Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experience (LAPPE) Program
at Houston Methodist Hospital, further refining his clinical expertise.
Adam aspires to pursue a Pharmacy Practice Residency specializing in Oncology or Health-System Pharmacy Administration and Leadership, with the goal of becoming a board-certified
clinical pharmacist and ultimately entering pharmacy academia. Outside of pharmacy, Adam enjoys spending time with family and friends and exploring Austin.
