The Texas Society of Health-System Pharmacy (TSHP) is proud to announce that McKenzie Erwin is the recipient of the 2025 Glenda Lawson McRee Pharmacy Student Award.

TSHP annually recognizes outstanding individuals and organizations within our community for excellence and a commitment to advancing healthcare and pharmacy practice in Texas. The awardees are selected by the TSHP Board of Directors based on nominations submitted by TSHP members.

This award is given to a pharmacy student who demonstrates a commitment to the profession through service, practice, education or research.

McKenzie Erwin is a Class of 2025 PharmD candidate at The University of Texas at Austin College of Pharmacy. Her commitment to the profession began with her college’s SSHP chapter, where she served as the co-chair for the pediatric specialty committee and subsequently expanded her reach as Vice President. This role afforded her the opportunity to serve on the TSHP Student Section Executive Committee, where she engaged with SSHP leaders across the state to learn of their chapter development. Throughout her didactic years, she volunteered with several community partners and the Austin Area chapter. Her involvement with the ASHP affiliates continued when she relocated to Houston for her fourth-year rotations. She has remained engaged with the Gulf Coast chapter through social events and their local annual seminar. McKenzie prioritizes her passion for professional development and leadership through several other pharmacy organizations as well. She is committed to fostering the growth of the Pharmacy Ambassador group and budding oncology organization at UT, while actively participating in several college committees dedicated to shaping a brighter future for Longhorn pharmacists. She helped execute two New Student Orientations for P1 classes matriculating into the program and continues to engage with them through mentorship. Beyond pharmacy school, McKenzie has gained invaluable experience in various pharmacy practice models, including numerous community and health-system settings, and an internship with Mayo Clinic. She has been inspired to pursue an administrative residency program to become a versatile and resilient pharmacy leader for the next generation of pharmacists.

This honor was presented April 4 at the 2025 Texas Society of Health-System Pharmacy (TSHP) Annual Seminar in Irving, TX, at the Irving Convention Center at Las Colinas. TSHP’s Annual Seminar is the largest educational and networking meeting of pharmacists, new practitioners, students, technicians, and industry professionals in Texas. With a focus on quality patient care and medication safety, registrants may select from dozens of hours of live programming each year. TSHP Annual Seminar programs are designed to maintain and enhance the knowledge, skills, and abilities of pharmacy professionals in health-systems across Texas.
