The Texas Society of Health-System Pharmacy (TSHP) is proud to announce that Stefanie A. Stafford is the recipient of the 2025 Lewis S. Smith Pharmacy Practitioner Award.

TSHP annually recognizes outstanding individuals and organizations within our community for excellence and a commitment to advancing healthcare and pharmacy practice in Texas. The awardees are selected by the TSHP Board of Directors based on nominations submitted by TSHP members.

A pharmacist earns this award by demonstrating exemplary patient care and exceptional relationships with other healthcare professionals.

Dr. Stafford received her B.S. from the University of Nevada Reno, M.S. in Medical Sciences from the University of North Texas Health Sciences Center, and PharmD degree from California Northstate University. She completed her PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residency at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, and PGY2 in Infectious Diseases at Renown Regional Health. She hopes to continue work towards publications that further evidence-based practice, participate with TSHP, GCSHP, and the Society of Infectious Diseases Pharmacists, and continue to expand her ID knowledge. Prior to her pharmacy career, she was a high school science teacher in Dallas. She enjoys teamwork and learning. In her spare time she reads for pleasure, enjoys watching live sports, attending concerts, musicals, and going to the movies, as well as, traveling, and relaxing with her pets.

This honor was presented April 4 at the 2025 Texas Society of Health-System Pharmacy (TSHP) Annual Seminar in Irving, TX, at the Irving Convention Center at Las Colinas. TSHP’s Annual Seminar is the largest educational and networking meeting of pharmacists, new practitioners, students, technicians, and industry professionals in Texas. With a focus on quality patient care and medication safety, registrants may select from dozens of hours of live programming each year. TSHP Annual Seminar programs are designed to maintain and enhance the knowledge, skills, and abilities of pharmacy professionals in health-systems across Texas.
