The Texas Society of Health-System Pharmacy (TSHP) is proud to announce that Valerie Buckley, PharmD, BCIDP is the recipient of the 2025 New Pharmacist Award. TSHP annually recognizes outstanding individuals and organizations within our community for excellence and a commitment to advancing healthcare and pharmacy practice in Texas. The awardees are selected by the TSHP Board of Directors based on nominations submitted by TSHP members. A pharmacist licensed to practice within the last 5 years earns this award by demonstrating exceptional involvement in the creation of or participating in best practices relating to patient care. Valerie is the Infectious Diseases Clinical Pharmacy Specialist at Memorial Hermann Southeast Hospital. She completed her PGY2 Infectious Diseases pharmacy residency at the University of Texas Medical Branch and her PGY1 at Memorial Hermann Memorial City Medical Center in Houston. She is originally from Las Vegas, Nevada and graduated from Roseman University of Health Sciences with a PharmD and University of Nevada, Las Vegas with a bachelor's in biology. Her areas of interest within ID include antimicrobial resistance and oral antibiotics for severe infections. This honor was presented April 4 at the 2025 Texas Society of Health-System Pharmacy (TSHP) Annual Seminar in Irving, TX, at the Irving Convention Center at Las Colinas. TSHP’s Annual Seminar is the largest educational and networking meeting of pharmacists, new practitioners, students, technicians, and industry professionals in Texas. With a focus on quality patient care and medication safety, registrants may select from dozens of hours of live programming each year. TSHP Annual Seminar programs are designed to maintain and enhance the knowledge, skills, and abilities of pharmacy professionals in health-systems across Texas.
