The Texas Society of Health-System Pharmacists Research & Education Foundation (TSHP R&E Foundation) is proud to announce the recipient of the 2025 Central Texas Society of Health-System Pharmacists Scholarship is Kayla Haase.
The Central Texas Society of Health System Pharmacists Scholarship was established in 2003 for a pharmacy student completing rotations in the San Antonio area. Preference is given to those students who have scheduled rotations in the San Antonio area or are from the San Antonio Area.
Kayla Haase is currently a third-year pharmacy student at Feik School of Pharmacy, pursuing both her Doctor of Pharmacy and Master of Arts in Administration: Healthcare Administration degrees. Prior to entering pharmacy school, she earned her Bachelor
of Science in Biology from the University of Texas at San Antonio and went on to earn her Master of Arts in Medical Sciences- Molecular Medicine from Liberty University. Additionally, having worked as a teaching assistant at an elementary and middle
school prior to entering pharmacy school, she discovered her love of pediatrics. The experiences as a teaching assistant fostered her passion for patient advocacy and education and allowed her to establish her long-term career goal of becoming a Board-Certified
Pediatric Specialist.
Currently, she spends her free time volunteering with the Children’s Association for Maximum Potential, which is an altruistic organization for adults and children with disabilities. Volunteering with the Children’s Association for Maximum Potential has
had a huge impact on the trajectory of her future career as a pediatric pharmacist as she discovered her interest in caring for pediatric patients with disabilities. Furthermore, she is the Chair of the Pediatric Pharmacy Association National Student
Council to continue immersing herself in the pediatric pharmacy community. The Pediatric Pharmacy Association has allowed her to grow her network of pharmacy professionals and allowed her to learn more about the pharmacy profession. She strives to
contribute to the evolving pharmacy landscape through research, education, and clinical advancements, ensuring pediatric patients receive the highest standard of care.
This honor was presented April 4 during the 2025 Texas Society of Health-System Pharmacy (TSHP) Annual Seminar at the Irving Convention Center at Las Colinas in Irving, TX. TSHP’s Annual Seminar is the largest educational and networking meeting of student
pharmacists, career pharmacists, new practitioners, technicians, and industry professionals in Texas. With a focus on quality patient care and medication safety, registrants may select from many educational and networking activities, including dozens
